Ned Wenlock lives in Wellington and work as an animator, designer and illustrator. He has been drawing comics since about the age of nine. He says: “My biggest influences back then where The Adventures of Tintin and the Rupert the Bear stories. Anything fantastical was firmly grounded in a mundane reality, and this is something which continues to inform my comics today. I still enjoy reading comics but find what influences me now is more likely to be film or books. That’s something I see in the few comic artists I’ve been following recently like Anders Nilson, Jason, Yoshihiro Tatsumi and Chris Ware. I also really enjoy Gary Panter’s work, even though I don’t understand it at all.”
